Congrats to Team Sociology member and EKU graduate Nick Davis, who placed first in hand forms at the recent Valentine Classic Elite Martial Arts Tournament in Winchester.

Nick has been practicing traditional Goju-Ryu Karate for over two years now. Goju-Ryu, a traditional Okinawan system, translates to hard soft style and blends both open and closed hand techniques. Nick has attained 5th kyu (or underbelt degree). After rigorous training, he was able to win his first athletic trophy ever at the age of 33 at the Elite Martial Arts Championship. This qualifies him to compete at Disney Word at the International Martial Arts Festival at ESPN in Florida this October.

The Valentine Classic is hosted by Master Will Schneider and Elite Martial Arts. Schneider, a London, Kentucky native, runs Elite campuses in Richmond, Berea, and Winchester. His martial arts faculty include recent EKU graduate, Harry Hunsucker

In reflecting on his recent win, Nick shared that, "it is never too late to learn something new or chase goals."
